Tom Morello has received a bit of backlash for throwing a fan’s cell phone into the crowd as the fan attempted to take a selfie with Morello after being invited onstage during his performance on Saturday (15th) at the Hollywood Casino Amphitheatre in Tinley Park, IL. While Morello isn’t the first person who has physically removed a phone from a fan’s hand and most likely won’t be the last, people have been rather angry on how the Rage Against the Machine/Prophets of Rage guitarist handled it.
Morello has since responded via Twitter with the following:

LOVE having fans onstage, do it every show! If u wanna film instead of rocking out, ur call. But I EXPLICITLY state, “If you stick a cell phone in my face I will throw it”, this likely constitutes ‘fair warning’. It’s not a petting zoo. Also dude got his phone right back unharmed https://t.co/oxjqB9UsOq

When you invite guests to YOUR stage and CLEARLY TELL THEM “if you stick a cell phone in my face I WILL THROW IT” and then their uncontrollable entitled selfie urges overcome their sense of reason they get their f*ckin phones thrown. Simple. #KMA https://t.co/NTN2lVep8t
