According to Metal Injection, there’s a chance Tool haven’t unveiled the official artwork for their new album, Fear Inoculum. With the countless of updates we’ve heard about tool since 2006’s 10,000 Days, we’re not surprised the band are having fun surprising their fans. Revolver recently interviewed guitarist Adam Jones and during the discussion, Jones revealed what could be artist Alex Grey’s concept to the official artwork.

Jones explained:

“Well, we approached Alex Grey at about the same time he approached us. [Laughs] And he was very into doing something with us again. We talked and he had this thing called The Great Turn, and it’s basically this being that has two sides. It represents the two sides of anything — good and evil, light and dark, yin and yang — and then there’s this net of geometry that flows between them and connects them. So a lot of it relates to the songs. It’s this observation of life, these choices we make, these things we all deal with. But I think you’re gonna be really into it when you see it. It’s very different, and I’m very into it.”

Based on a recent Reddit post, Grey himself has teased there will be more artwork:

Alex Grey confirms that’s not the final cover art for the album. And he might have something to do with the final version… from r/ToolBand

The band has somewhat already confirmed this when they revealed Fear Inoculum’s tracklist. If you look at their original Instagram post, you will see what could be parts of the official artwork.

Drummer Danny Carey recently spoke to Metal Hammer about the new record as he mentioned frontman Maynard James Keenan received death threats from overzealous fans anxiously waiting for the new album.

Carey explained:

“I felt bad for him [Keenan], and he even told me he was getting death threats from these idiots out there. They just have no idea what our work ethic is. These things don’t happen, man.

There’s no other record that’s going to sound like this Tool record. What you hear is what you get, and what you get is what it takes to get it done. And it’s not an easy process.”

Carey was recently interviewed by another outlet as the drummer was asked if he was bothered by the fact that Bieber is a Tool fan.

Carey answered:

“Absolutely not! Anybody who digs your art, you what to share it with. It’s like trying to say you’re God Almighty to try to judge somebody. We’re not in the business of putting up barriers; that’s the job of politicians. They’re the idiots who want to build walls between people.”

This question occurred after frontman Maynard James Keenan said he was “bummed” to find out that Bieber is a Tool fan. Bieber’s wife, Hailey, responded to Maynard’s comment calling it “very childish.” Meanwhile, Dj Cumberbund made a hilarious Tool and Bieber mashup called “Love Your Parabola.”

Tool’s first album in thirteen years will finally arrive next Friday (30th) as their entire back catalog continues to crush Billboard charts
