Bret Michaels Claims Nikki Sixx Apologized For Crue’s Derogatory Comments

Posted by on May 13, 2011

It’s a known fact that the members of Motley Crue have had less than kind words for fellow 80’s hair metal band Poison. First, Sixx made the now infamous statement saying  that he or any of his bands would never tour with Poison. This was then followed by comments made by both Tommy Lee and Vince Neil shortly after Bret Michaels let it slip that a Summer tour might happen with the two bands. That’s why when a Summer tour featuring Motley Crue and Poison was confirmed, we were all excited to see the media backlash. However, as much as we might have hoped, it looks like no such drama has evolved. In fact, not only are the bands reportedly on good terms (in case you couldn’t tell from Sixx and Michaels’ interviews together), but Michaels revealed that Sixx himself even apologized for his band mates’ comments.

In an interview with The Arizona Republic, the Poison frontman revealed the following:

“There was a lot of controversy between Motley Crue and Poison, just some comments they had made about how ‘We’re not gonna do that kind of tour.’ I had said something on stage, like ‘Wouldn’t it be awesome if for Poison’s 25th anniversary and Motley Crue’s 30th, for there to be a tour we did together?’ And a couple of the members of their band made some pretty derogatory comments. I just said, ‘The hell with it. I’m gonna do my own tour.’ Then, Nikki (Sixx) said, ‘I’m really sorry about some of the comments some of the members made. I really want to do this.’ So I think it’s gonna be a great tour.”

So there you have it. Michael’s comments further proves, as did his morning show interviews with Sixx, that any bad blood held between the two bands is either gone or at least not noticeable enough to draw concern. Thus, unless a big fight breaks out in the middle of the Summer tour (somewhat possible considering who is in each band), the Motley Crue/Poison drama has most likely come to an end. We’ll keep you posted, though, if something pops up (like if Vince Neil and C.C. DeVille get in a fist fight over who was a better cast member of The Surreal Life…oh if only…).
