Dimmu Borgir to unveil ‘Forces of the Northern Night’

Posted by on January 11, 2017

Norwegian symphonic black metal titans Dimmu Borgir surprised us this morning with the release date of their anticipated double DVD, Forces Of The Northern Night, on April 14 via Nuclear Blast. The package includes two live performances, their memorable show in Oslo with the Norwegian Radio Orchestra and a bombastic choir, along with their performance at the Wacken Open Air festival in 2012.

The band commented:

“For us, this is the pinnacle of our career so far. As a band, we’ve always used a lot of symphonic elements in our music. But we haven’t been able to use a real orchestra live. We’ve had to use samples, synthesizers and so on, so this was a huge, awesome experience for us!”

It is going on seven years since 2010’s Abrahadabra, which makes me wonder, will we ever see a tenth studio album? At the end of their announcement they assured us to, “beware… this is not the only gem that the year 2017 holds for DIMMU BORGIR.”
