Fans have been ecstatic to see A Perfect Circle (somewhat) active again these past two years. The reformation has even given birth to a new song. However, a majority of A Perfect Circle’s shows have been without drummer Josh Freese. While at the time he was simply busy with other commitments, it’s now become apparent that the drummer is out of the band for good.

Freese took to his Twitter account to confirm that he is no longer in the supergroup (also featuring Maynard James Keenan and Billy Howerdel), saying:

“After 13 years, I’ve decided to leave @aperfectcircle with no plans of returning. Apologies to those inquiring about the upcoming shows.”

A Perfect Circle has yet to comment on Freese’s tweet, nor have they revealed a replacement. Granted, APC only has one show remaining this year (and the Soundwave Festival in Australia in early 2013). While Freese’s departure is a major loss for the group, he’s been a journeyman drummer throughout the band’s career. playing with Devo, Weezer and Sublime with Rome.
