Grave Ascension

Following in the footsteps of bands such as Rottrevore, Pungent Stench, and most prominently, Incantation, Tampa’s GRAVE ASCENSION is one of the most crushingly brutal old-school death metal bands to come from the Sunshine State. Originally started as “Blasphemous Cremation” (an obvious nod to the band’s biggest inspiration), a two-piece project only a year ago, the band soon changed their name to Grave Ascension, and added thundering bass to their aural assault with the addition of Pat Brady of the now defunct black/thrash outfit Volcanic Slut. With only one 3-track demo available, featuring a machine gun like blast beat assault, riffs upon riffs, and some of the most disgusting vocals since Incantation’s “Onward to Golgatha” and “Mortal Throne of Nazarene” Grave Ascension have set themselves up to become one one of next big names in US death metal. Druid Lord

Druid Lord

What do you get when you take the soul crushing heaviness of a band like Saint Vitus, combine it with the disgusting brutality of a band like Autopsy? You get DRUID LORD. A band that easily ranks alongside other similar acs such as Acid Witch, November’s Doom, and the legendary Winter as one of the best death/doom metal bands in the United States. With lyrics drawing heavy influence from 70’s horror movies, the occult, and all other things macabre, Druid Lord are the premiere darkened, horror-themed band from Florida. Generichrist

Perfectly combining sleaze with death and thrash metal, St. Petersburg’s GENERICHRIST is pure savagery. Featuring the likes of Ed Webb (ex-Massacre) on bass and backing vocals, his low rumbling guttural growls perfectly accompany the tortured shrieks of lead vocalist Tony Anderson. With two full-length albums to their name, and a number of EP’s and split releases as well, Generichrist shows no signs of slowing down any time soon. Also check out: Fleshreaper
