Metallica to perform on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,’ is ‘SNL’ next?

In 2014, Metallica had a weeklong stint on the Late Late Show With Craig FergusonThe following year, the show was  canceled, but that’s neither here nor there. The point is that next Thursday (29), the band will appear on The The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, meaning they’ve gotten a one-hour upgrade. We’d kill to see them jam with The Roots, but that’s probably not happening. However, with the band paying at 30 Rock on September 29th, and the season premiere of Saturday Night Live just two days later, it’s not out of the realm of impossibility to wildly speculate that Metallica might be the first musical guest on SNL. They haven’t announced their first musical guest yet, but given that the band were kind of campaigning to be on the show, it would make sense, wouldn’t it?
