Artist Vincent Castiglia’s 10 favorite metal album covers

Posted by on April 15, 2016

vincentcastigliaArtist Vincent Castiglia is well-known not just for his art, but for his medium, which is human blood. If that rings a bell, then you’re probably most familiar with his work that was done on a canvas known as Slayer and Exodus guitarist Gary Holt’s guitar. The guitarist gave 18 vials of his blood to have the artist decorate his guitar. And while it’s a given that the artist is a metal fan, we thought it might be appropriate to have him list his top ten favorite album covers. So in no particular order, here they are:

Iron MaidenSomewhere in Time

“This is the first record I’d owned in life. Not only was the recording just a titanic work of art, but this album cover is probably my favorite painted album art of all time. I really miss seeing traditional painting (not digital) for album covers like this.”
