We had word from the Deftones’ camp in the progress of their new album a few months ago when frontman Chino Moreno hinted the recording was only missing his vocals to be complete and ready to be out, hopefully, by September 25th. After a few weeks, we finally got an update on the record via Facebook:

The process included a guest appearance from Alice in Chains’ Jerry Cantrell and, as the final piece on the recording process, the album should be ready for mixing and mastering which will be steered by Matt Hyde, who had previously worked with Deftones in the past on their 2012’s Koi No Yokan. Once that’s done, I’m sure we will get a new single to get a feel on how the album will be, which Moreno described to be “outside of the box”.

The band is getting ready to embark on a summer tour with Incubus in a few weeks and that may be your chance to catch some new tunes live, so if you want to check if the band will play some of these new songs, make sure to catch the band at the following dates:
