NOT Stage 48

As if 2017 hasn’t been enough of a metaphorical dumpster fire, a literal dumpster fire has led to the (hopefully) temporary closure of a New York venue that hosted some metal shows. Stage 48, a venue on (duh) West 48th street, has seen the likes of Sleep, Devildriver, and Whitechapel over the past few years, and was about to host a big one this Wednesday (29) with Cannibal Corpse, Gatecreeper and Power Trip playing. The venue, which is more akin to a nightclub, with multiple levels a nice lighting system and a huge disco ball. However, as a result of the fire, the show has been moved to a more traditional venue, Irving Plaza.

The show’s move has been announced by the promoter, who announce that the closure is temporary, and that tickets from Stage 48 will be honored at Irving:

Please note: Cannibal Corpse has been moved to Irving Plaza, due to a temporarily closure at Stage 48 from damaged sustained from a dumpster fire outside of the venue.

Tickets from Stage 48 will be honored at the Irving Plaza show.

We’ll see if/when Stage 48 reopens, but at least NYC residents will still get an opportunity to see one of the fall’s hottest metal tours (pun fully intended).
