This is just a rumor, but if it comes true, the Tool Army might be taking up residency in Las Vegas in March. Vegas Chatter suggests that Planet Hollywood’s Axis Theater, currently home to Britney Spears’ Piece of Me residency, could be the site of a Tool mini-residency in mid-March. It would line up with the fact that Britney won’t be doing shows there in March. A tip from a reader of the site says that the band will be taking up residency at the theater in March. And while the band’s short tour begins on March 4th, the dates only take them to March 11th, before a Mexico City show on March 18th.

Vegas Chatter notes that the Britney Spears residency is using large video display screens, which of course is one of Tool’s trademarks. A review of Britney’s show from the same site notes that the entire width of the Axis Theater is projectable, and that the sound system is as good as any the reviewer has ever experienced. Don’t believe this until it’s confirmed, but you’ve heard it here, um, second.
