KISS, Def Leppard team up for summer tour

Posted by on March 17, 2014

Looks like Mötley Crüe and Alice Cooper isn’t the only ’70s/’80s nostalgia tour happening this Summer. While it had been rumored last week, KISS and Def Leppard officially announced that they’ll be teaming up for a jaunt. The 2014 Heroes tour will kick off on June 23rd and continue throughout the summer, wrapping up on August 31st. Strangely enough, this will be the first time the two bands have toured together.  However, don’t expect the two to play together.  In an interview, Leppard’s Joe Elliott said that neither one of them are jam bands, so it’s not like it’s the Grateful Dead and Phish are touring together.

And what of the tour name? No, it doesn’t mean the bands are heroes, even if KISS might have their own comic book back in the day. The “heroes” they refer to are U.S. troops. The bands are partnering with military companies, with $1 from each ticket sold going to the Wounded Warrior Project, and KISS is hoping to find some veterans to work on the crew. Tickets for the tour go on sale for most markets this Friday, March 21st. A handful, marked with an asterik, will go on sale on March 22nd.
