As promised, The Rockstar EnergyDrink Mayhem Festival has revealed the special guest band that will be performing on the main stage along with Slipknot and Slayer. And the band is…exactly who we already knew it too be.

But in case you for some reason remained skeptical of Lemmy Kilmister’s confirmation, Motörhead were officially added to this Summer’s Mayhem Fest lineup earlier today. “Well, we’re used to mayhem in this band, so it’s kind of a family tradition!  Bring it!,” Lemmy himself commented. Of course, though, this should come as no surprise since the only real reason Motörhead weren’t announced previously was because of Gigantour (which they unfortunately dropped off the last four shows of).

However, that wasn’t the only news Mayhem Fest announced. Last Friday, Sumerian Records hinted that more bands from their roster would be added to this year’s lineup as well. As it turns out, though, Sumerian Records is getting their very own side stage. Presented by Headbang For The Highway, the Sumerian Records Stage will feature Upon A Burning Body, I The Breather, and one more band still to be announced. Plus, Headbang For The Highway will be holding a contest all over the U.S. for unsigned bands to win opening spots on the new side stage. More information will be made available soon via Sumerian Records’ Facebook.

As awesome of a lineup as this year’s Mayhem Fest already was, we have to admit that we were a bit worried when a second stage wasn’t mentioned in the first announcement. We always enjoyed how the tour was set up so that there was no waiting around for sound checks in between sets. That’s why we’re pleased to hear about the edition of Sumerian Records’ second stage. Then again, we were already sold on the tour by the idea of seeing Slipknot, Slayer, Motörhead and Anthrax on the same bill.
