Rapper Tech N9ne is no stranger to metal. The rapper has gotten System of a Down’s Serj Tankian to appear on a song, as well as Slipknot and Stone Sour’s Corey Taylor. He even shows up on Five Finger Death Punch’s album via their cover of LL Cool J’s “Mama Said Knock You Out.” So he was pretty psyched earlier this week to meet Phil Anselmo, despite the fact that he had a pretty rotten 2016 after drunkenly giving a seig heil and yelling “white power” at the Dimebash last year. After not apologizing, then tearfully apologizing and taking much of the year off, he’s said his part, and it’s up to the court of public opinion as to how they see him.

Of course it didn’t take long for Facebook fans to weigh in, and Tech (Mr. N9ne?) came right back at them, stating that”I know what happened at Dimebash and I know why, so fuckin’ what?,” stating that he’s grown up. He went on further in his comments, essentially saying that when his Christian mom married a man that practiced Islam, he was taught hate, but learned that at the end of the day, it’s about respect:

For his part, Anselmo was probably just happy to meet someone that wasn’t judging him, and probably pretty happy to meet a popular rapper that was also a fan. What are the odds the next Tech N9ne album has an Anselmo appearance on it?
