This past weekend 29 year old vocalist Telle Smith broke his back during a performance with his band The Word Alive. They’ve been out on the “Apollo X Tour” since mid-October, supporting Motionless in White and The Devil Wears Prada. According to video footage (below), Smith did a backflip off of a riser, then launched himself into the crowd.

Said Smith via Twitter:

“I think I tied the record for worst show injury… 1 broken rib, 1 fractured rib and a broken back. Went a little TOO big in Pomona! I have a brace to help me finish out the last shows we have. But I won’t be going crazy so you’ll have to do that for me. RIP stage dives…”

How Smith managed to get back to the stage is a mystery, especially for an injury that requires a brace and what he says is 3-4 months recovery time. Kids, these days!
