Slayer aren’t a mass-appeal, but the band have definitely made an impact on pop culture over the last 30 years. And the sad and untimely passing of Jeff Hanneman this past Thursday has resonated beyond just metal fans. Take, for example, NHL team the Los Angeles Kings. The hockey team, who are currently in the first round of the playoffs, paid tribute to Hanneman on Saturday by playing “Spirit in Black” from Seasons in the Abyss as the warmup music for their game this past Saturday (4). The  music must have inspired the team – down two games to none, they went on to win the game. If you need a refresher on the song, check it out after the jump.
