While Lostprophets singer Ian Watkins continues to serve out his 35 year sentence on child sex charges, an ex-girlfriend of the singer was cleared of all seven of the offenses she’d been charged with. 39 year-old Joanne Mjadzelics said she’d encouraged Watkins to send explicit images to her so she could take them to police, but they’d ignored her for four years. ” I shouldn’t have been here, just for doing the police’s job that they couldn’t be arsed to do,” she told the court. BBC.com reports that she’d spoken on the steps outside after being cleared:

“Do I regret meeting him? Yes, I regret meeting him but if I hadn’t met him then no-one would have reported him so I guess I can’t regret anything because I was the one who kept going back and going back and reporting and reporting.”

Mjadzelics reported Watkins to police in 2008. 2009, 2011 and 2012, and she said that nothing was done. The single mother said she’d only continued the relationship to gather evidence against Watkins. The prosecution claimed that she’d “joined in the sexual fantasies” of the singer. Watkins pleaded guilty in November of 2013 on the charges, which included the attempted rape of a baby. The existing members of Lostprophets have moved forward with a new band, No Devotion.
