Mike IX Williams

It’s been such a long and crappy year for the music industry in terms of losing influential artists, and good news has been few and far between. However, we’re happy to report that Eyehategod singer Mike IX Williams has successfully undergone a liver transplant. The last we heard, things were looking pretty bleak, with his liver failure giving him heart damage, and the singer on blood thinners, waiting for his transplant. Thankfully, he received the transplant today. Williams’ wife shared two status updates :

“This morning we got the call we’d been waiting for…..They found a donor match for Michael!!! After waiting all day to hear something, they just took him down to prep for the transplant! They should start the actual surgery in about an hour. I’ll keep you posted on his progress. Please send good thoughts ❤️”

“Surgeon just came out to talk to me – it’s over! Everything went well. New liver is functioning and making bile. They’re taking him to ICU now and I can see him in about an hour. ❤️🙏🏻😘”

Again, in such a bleak year that’s already taken so many musicians away from us, it’s amazing and somewhat inspirational that he’s pulled through. Of course, there are still plenty of bills, and surgery isn’t cheap, so if his YouCaring page is still open for business.
