torchegameWe love Torche’s blend of sludge, pop and metal, and with their new album (and Relapse debut) Restarter coming out on February 24, many more will get a chance to hear them. And while music fans will enjoy the band, there might be some gamers turned on to them, as the band debuted a side-scrolling video game today. Torche Vs. Robots: Annihilation Affair was released today, and it’s an ’80s-influenced game  that will probably appeal to anyone that had an original Nintendo NES. The game has players playing as band members, on a quest to save Miami from being taken over by robots. Available now as a desktop game, a mobile version is coming soon.

Playing the game is fun, and occasionally frustrating, as there’s only one life. However, it’s worth it for a few reasons: first of all, you get to hear music from Restarter as you’re playing the game. And you can also win a prize pack by beating the game. Consisting of the new album on vinyl, a t-shirt, two tickets to see them on tour and some stickers, all you have to do is upload a video of yourself to YouTube beating the game and using the hashtag #torchevsrobots. There will be one prize pack per band member given away with the winners being picked on Monday, February 23, so get to playing!
