Amidst all the backbiting, sniping and discussion about how this just isn’t the Mayhem Fest’s year, it seems perhaps Slayer guitarist Kerry King remembered that it comes to giving those that do come out the show a performance to remember. Or maybe it was was because Metal Blade Records president Brian Slagel, who gave the band their first exposure, was in attendance Either way, he joined King Diamond onstage for a performance of Mercyful Fate’s “Evil” at last night’s Rockstar Energy Mayhem Festival in Holmdel, NJ. With only a few more shows left before the fest wraps up for the year, could this become a nightly occurrence? Maybe not, but it sure should.
