This could be called a week of surprises. Steel Panther gave us an early treat with the free stream of their new album Lower the Bar and Northlane surprised us with the release of their fourth album Mesmer. With that said, a few music videos shocked us as well and here are this week’s best videos.

5) Kampfar – “Mylder”

Norwegian black metallers Kampfar dropped a new music video for  “Mylder” taken from 2014’s Djevelmakt. It’s been since 2015’s Profan and perhaps this is a sign that new music is yet to come.

4) Grave Digger – “Lawbreaker”

German power metallers Grave Digger unleashed the video “Lawbreaker” taken from their new album Healed By Metal via Napalm Records. The straightforward video reveals the band performing at an intimate club filled with fans headbanging and having a great time.

3) Lacuna Coil – “Blood, Tears, Dust”

Lacuna Coil premiered the video for “Blood, Tears, Dust” taken from their latest album Delirium. Vocalist Cristina Scabbia commented the following about the song:

“Right now I can’t tell you everything about ‘Blood, Tears, Dust’, as this video is part of something bigger… This is the core of who we are as a band: the sweat, the dirt, the raw energy. It’s our insanity and all of us feeling comfortable with it.

I love how by Cosimo Alemà filmed this. The photography, the colors and the hints in the story are perfectly placed and it is the first time we are really ‘acting’. This video is only a part of a much bigger plan… stay tuned. Hope you enjoy this video as much as I do!”

2) Northlane – “Citizen”

Australian metalcore outfit Northlane premiered the video for “Citizen” taken from the surprise release of Mesmer.

Guitarist Josh Smith described the song as:

“A song that was written about the First World police state and our willingness to live under the watch of those in power, for their means, while those who blow the lid on it suffer. Writing this one was quite a mission. We went through five completely different sets of lyrics and the final incarnation of the song was the eighth revision. It took a lot of work, but we are proud of it and beyond excited to share it with you all.”

1) Otep – “Equal Rights Equal Lefts”

Otep shocked us with the seeking equality NSFW video for “Equal Rights Equal Lefts.”

Otep expressed:

“I wrote this song to celebrate and empower all people to live their authentic selves, to live their truth, and to fight for their right to exist. Every day the LGBTQ community faces bigotry, bullying, ridicule and legislative attacks. We are not ‘the other.’ We are your friends, your family, your neighbors, your coworkers, your doctors, nurses, soldiers and fellow Americans. Simply put, this song and this video are about love and equality.”

Bonus – All That Remains – “Halo”

As a bonus treat, All That Remains dropped a lyric video for the brand new song “Halo” taken from their upcoming eighth album Madness out April 28 via Razor & Tie.
