On ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’ Monday (27), Kimmel decided to honor one frontline healthcare worker with the help of a very special guest.

As part of his “Healthcare Hero of the Week” segment, Kimmel introduces the audience to TJ Riley, an emergency and trauma nurse at Jacoby Medical Center in the Bronx, NY, who, in treating COVID-19 patients, contracted and recovered from the virus. After briefly interviewing him about what has been going on in the hospital and his own recovery, Kimmel introduces Riley to his friend “Dave,” catching him off guard with none other than Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl.

Following heaps of deserved praise and Kimmel rewarding a very surprised Riley with $10,000 from Life Is Good Apparel Company and gift packages to his department’s nurses, Grohl serenades him with a brief acoustic version of “Everlong.”

Last week, Grohl and the rest of the Foo Fighters were in the news for their celebrity re-recording of hit single “Times Like These.” The new track, which was recorded for BBC Radio’s Live Lounge, featured vocals from a veritable who’s who of popular singers, including Dua Lipa, 5 Seconds of Summer, Bastille, Coldplay’s Chris Martin, Royal Blood, Yungblud, Biffy Clyro, Ellie Goulding and more. Profits from the single, which is headed for a number one placement on the UK charts, are going to BBC Children in Need and Comic Relief to help those impacted by COVID-19.
