Ed Sheeran sings heavy metal on Tonight Show

Posted by on June 2, 2015

British singer and songwriter sensation Ed Sheeran made an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon last night, to support his “latest album,” Ed Sheeran Sings Heavy Metal.

Fallon reveals a fictional track listing for Ed Sheeran’s metal album, name-checking Slayer, Cannibal Corpse, Morbid Angel, and Lamb of God. Then Sheeran actually performs two tracks in front of a green-screen, playing, “Run to the Hills” by Iron Maiden, and Limp Bizkit’s “Break Stuff.” The Avett Brothers did the same thing in 2013, covering Metallica’s “One,” Iron Maiden’s “Run to the Hills” (of course!), and Black Sabbath’s “Iron Man.”

The Ed Sheeran Sings Heavy Metal tracklisting is then rounded out by some fictious (but hilarious) band names including Plagues of Slaughter, Demented Retribution, and Goat Skank. Will it outsell Sheeran’s latest album, 2014’s X? That album debuted at #1 on the Billboard charts, selling 210,000 copies in its first week.
