HIM frontman Ville Valo has released his debut EP under the moniker VV. The EP is titled Gothica Fennica Vol. 1. and features three brand new songs.

The new EP came with no fanfare or comment from Valo, appearing on all streaming platforms out of nowhere on Friday (March 20).

HIM broke up in 2017 following a farewell tour. Valo told Kerrang at the time about the Finnish “love metal” band’s end that

“We were tired of the same shit. When you’ve done it for a long time, at some point it doesn’t taste good anymore. We started working on some stuff, it didn’t sound good enough, and we didn’t get the teenage buzz you’re supposed get.”

Valo released a solo album with Finnish traditional rockers Agents, titled Ville Valo & Agents, in 2019. HIM’s last album, Tears On Tape, was released in 2013.
