If you pay attention to MTV and top 40 radio, you’d think that all kids are consisting on a steady diet of crappy hip-hop and Justin Bieber. At least there are some music teachers pointing out the right from the wrong, and on both sides of the pond, too. Iron Maiden get their due diligence from a bunch of schoolkids in Britain singing along to “Flight of Icarus.” Not only are they singing, they’re learning about a Greek myth at the same time! And if you haven’t seen this Rage Against the Machine medley from the George Mason University pep band that’s been floating around the internets, you owe it to yourself to check it out. They seem a little more militant than the kids, but hey, who better to address the concerns of cultural imperialism and the unjust imprisonment of Leonard Peltier than some band geeks in college?
