Yesterday (15th), new security footage was released by CNN from the January 6 U.S. Capitol riot. Initially, the footage was obtained by House Impeachment managers and submitted as evidence for former President Donald Trump’s second impeachment trial. During this clip, a man having a strong resemblance to Iced Earth’s Jon Schaffer can be seen wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt and a tactical vest. According to reports, and based on the below footage, Schaffer is apparently seen near the mob’s frontlines yelling at police officers. 

This footage was released on the same day vocalist Stu Block, who is based in Canada, and Luke Appleton announced their resignation from the group. Witherfall guitarist Jake Dreyer has since removed “Iced Earth” from his Instagram and revealed the following to TMZ:

“Iced Earth employed him from 2016 to 2018 but now he’s focused solely on playing with his own band, Witherfall. Jake says he enjoyed his time with IE, but ‘it’s unfortunate how this tragedy unfolded.’”
