It’s horrifying to think of the hour-long ordeal that took place at the Bataclan in Paris a few weeks back. And sometime this week, we’ll be getting a firsthand account of what took place from the band that a sold-out crowd was there to see, Eagles of Death Metal. The interview hasn’t run yet, but singer Jesse Hughes and Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme (who plays with the band, but wasn’t on tour with them at the time) participated in it, and it will premiere on Vice sometime this week. Hughes sounds like he’s about to cry in the entire excerpt, and he gives a terrifying detail about the attacks:

“Several people hid in our dressing room and the killers were able to get in and killed every one of them except for a kid who was hiding under my leather jacket,” he says in the interview, which was conducted by Shane Smith. “A great reason why so many were killed was because so many people wouldn’t leave their friends, and so many people put themselves in front of people.”

That’s just awful. The snippet of interview has already gotten over 2.1 million views since it went up on Saturday, so to say that the world is watching isn’t a false statement at all, We’ll report back once the whole video is up.
