Earlier this year, Korn guitarist Brian “Head” Welch promised that the band’s 12th album would be “heavier.” This past Saturday, fans at the Chicago Open Air festival not only got to hear the live debut of a song, they were also treated to a video from the band that offered a brief teaser of the video. “Rotting In Vain” is scheduled to be released this Friday, July 22, and it looks like Chibs from Sons of Anarchy (actor Tommy Flanagan) is in it. There’s no information about when the album will be coming out, what it’s called, or what label it’s on yet. However the footage from Chicago Open Air of the song suggests that it’s definitely more of a return to the band’s roots, whatever those roots might be.

We’ll likely find out more about the band’s 12th album on Friday, but for now, check out the first performance of the song from this past weekend, especially if you like to hear Jonathan Davis scat.
