What do you get when you combine the psychedelic visuals of Skinner, who drew the cover art for Mastodon’s Once More ‘Round the Sun, and a guy that was involved in the amazing “Too Many Cooks?” The forthcoming video for Mastodon’s “Asleep in the Deep.” We’ve already known that Skinner and Shane Morton were collaborating on the video, which was described as “a short film that will feature bizarre imagery and psychedelically hued, possibly disturbing and disorienting concepts, starring cats.” The band have been teasing the video in the past few weeks on their social media using the hashtag #mastocat. Now via Instagram the band have unveiled a short teaser for the video. It’s going to be next to impossible to top the twerking masterpiece of “The Motherload,” but if anything was to do it, the combination of psychedelia and kitties could.
“Asleep in the Deep” will premiere this Friday (19), but if you ask us, they should’ve waited a day and premiered it on Caturday.
