Doom_CoverWe’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, “New Noise” by Refused is the “Stairway to Heaven” of post-hardcore. And while the song is 18 years old, it sounds just as vital now as it did in 1998. Another ’90s relic that’s help up surprisingly well is Doom, the pioneering first-person shooter game originally released in 2003.

There have been various incarnations of the game throughout the years, and there’s going to be a 2016 next-gen update coming out on May 13, which will be technically the fourth game in the main series. It looks like it pays homage to the original, but looks thoroughly modernized. A trailer for the game. titled “Fight Like Hell,” features “New Noise,” and suddenly, it all makes sense.  Can you scream? Yes, yes you can. Now that the band’s back and touring with Deftones this Summer, there could be a whole new generation of fans that weren’t familiar with the original seeing a song get played that they first heard in a video game trailer.
