Last week in advance of Crooked Doors being released, Royal Thunder played an intimate, if somewhat corporate gig. The Atlanta quartet played an acoustic show at the skyscraper that houses BMG. While more used to having the wall of a dingy club as their backdrop, this time, they had the Manhattan skyline (and Jersey) in the background. The band played a trio of songs from the new album, “Time Machine,” “Glow” and “One Day.” While we were in attendance, Metal Injection was also, and they captured the album opener on video. Mlny Parsonz is hands down one of the  best vocalists out there. Her powerful and unique Janis Joplin-like voice sounds even better in a live setting, and acoustically, the focus is drawn even more to her.

The album is out now on Relapse.
