Sparta, featuring ex-members of At The Drive-In, has announced a new album. Trust The River is slated to hit shelves April 10 via Dine Alone Records.

Along with the album announcement, the band has released a video for the album’s first single, “Believe.” The track features extra guitars from Chicano Batman’s Carlos Arevalo. It’s video was directed by James Arrabito.

Said frontman/guitarist Jim Ward of the song:

“Believe” is a song that’s been on my desk for 10 years, I’ve recorded numerous versions but couldn’t quite get it where I thought it was ready until now. Once we had the basic track I sent it to my friend Carlos Arevalo from Chicano Batman for some guitar touches and was over the moon with his contribution. I couldn’t think of a better song from ‘Trust The River‘ to kick this new chapter off.”

Trust The River is the fourth studio album from Sparta and first release from the band in more than 14 years. The band released their last album, Threes, in 2006.

Sparta will also be heading out on the road this spring for a short tour. Those dates kick off April 23 in San Francisco, CA at Bottom of the Hill with two more dates in California (Los Angeles’ Troubadour on April 24 and San Diego’s Soda Bar on April 25), two dates at New York’s Mercury Lounge on April 29 and 30, two dates at Philadelphia, PA’s Boot & Saddle May 1 and 2 and wraps up May 3 in Somerville, MA at the ONCE Ballroom. Tickets are on pre-sale now.
