This past Saturday (20th), Taake played Oslo, Norway’s famous Inferno Festival and ended their set with a little twist on a Cure cover song. Prior to the song, Hoest gives a little introduction,

“We’re going to do a little cover song now. Of Mr. Talib Kweli… The song is called ‘Fuck You Nazi Lover.'”

For those who don’t get the reference, Talib Kweli is the American hip-hop artist who seemed to have a beef with Taake over the fact that Taake was going to be performing at a venue that Kalib was also booked at (on a different date).  In a series of tweetstorms, Kweli seemed to respond to any defense of Taake’s right to perform with the line “Fuck you Nazi lover.”

The song, of course, is actually called “Cold” and appears on The Cure’s Pornography record.

“Cold,” was performed live with Vrangsinn of Carpathian Forest on vocals (through a telephone receiver) appears on Taake’s Kulde EP (which also features Vranginn on vocals).

Due to Antifa pressure, Taake’s North American tour was cancelled last year as the band issued a lengthy statement to re-emphasize: “Taake is not now, has never been, and never will be a Nazi band.”
