Therion have kept their promise that they would release the first single taken from their latest effort Beloved Antichrist before Christmas Day. The time has finally arrived, and we are excited to hear the first taste of the highly anticipated rock opera, which is inspired by Vladímir Soloviov’s A Short Tale Of The Antichrist.

Today (20th), the symphonic metal pioneers have unleashed “Temple of New Jerusalem.” Initially, the date was slated for a February 2nd release and the group have since changed it to February 9th, 2018 via Nuclear Blast.

The band expressed leader Christofer Johnsson’s extensive desire to create this one-of-a-kind album:

For 15 years Therion’s leader, Christofer Johnsson, was haunted by the desire to compose an opera and turn his vision of the opus Beloved Antichrist into a reality. After a long period of time involving much commitment, dedication and passion, the project – which includes over three hours of playing time and 27 different vocal roles – was completed and will finally be released on February 9, 2018.

Today the band unveils their first single, the impressive chapter ‘Temple Of New Jerusalem’ from the second act of the opera. Watch the lyric video, below.”
