Next month, Brooklyn rockers Netherlands will be touring with Mastodon and Dinosaur Jr in support of their upcoming album Black Gaia, which will be released on August 24th via Records and Tapes Records. Earlier this year, the group released their EP Hope Porn, which showcased their psychedelic and groove essence. Of course, this made us more excited to see a full-length LP arrive sooner than later. To celebrate the group’s upcoming release as well as honoring their aforementioned EP, today (8th), we are happy to premiere the music video for the song “Fakir Mintas.” The track is taken from their EP, which you can order here.

Guitarist/vocalist Timo Ellis commented about the video:

“‘Fakir Mintas’ was created by the incredible filmmakers Steven Meierding and Sami Jano, the ‘dream team’ responsible for the brilliant ‘L.M.M’ video (from the 2016 Audubon LP) , and again features loads of ultra-imaginative, custom made machines, camera work, effects and set design; these guys are geniuses.

The song itself is generally about cognitive overload, particularly in the era of our now worldwide, compulsory addiction to the most flimsy/vacuous forms of commercial entertainment, in order to preemptively block out apocalyptic reality (or any unpleasant emotions!), all of which ultimately just serves to keep us smugly, endlessly buying things we don’t fucking need (*with the exception of THIS song, of course! you should definitely buy it on Bandcamp.)”

Double premiere – check out episode 15 of Shame Party! with Timo Ellis featuring John LaMacchia ( Candiria, Rising Pulse Records) as the video describes LaMacchia was “brave enough to expose himself, in various ways.”
