The release of Myrkur’s excellent M last year gave anti-social justice warriors and tr00 kvlt types alike a new enemy. She seems to have rebounded from it by ignoring death threats from American men and concetrating on her music, which is really what it comes down to. And while the just-released performance of a new song, “Himlen Blev Sort,” won’t do anything to make those that thought Amalie Bruun wasn’t metal to change their minds, it does draw attention to the fact that she’s really talented. Playing in the cavernous hallway of Denmark’s Radio Concert Hall with a medieval lute-like instrument, her haunting voice has great reverb on it. It’s a little more Cocteau Twins than Emperor, but it’s a good listen regardless.
