According to Blabbermouth, the Animosity-era lineup of Corrosion Of Conformity, featuring drummer Reed Mullin, guitarist Woody Weatherman and vocalist/bassist Mike Dean, has reformed and currently working on a new album together.

Animosity was the Raleigh band’s second album. Featuring the trio of Mike Dean, Woody Weatherman and Reed Mullin, it was released in 1985 on Metal Blade. It would be several years before the band would catch on, with 1987’s Technocracy, and several more before they really broke through to the mainstream, with 1991’s Blind. But the trio, plus guitarist Pepper Keenan (now in Down), were all present on the band’s breakthrough album, 1994’s Deliverance. The band had been defunct since 2006.

According to the article, the reformed band have already booked some West Coast dates this summer. It would be pretty awesome to see them play again, but it’ll be interesting to see if they play some of the later era material, after they morphed from a hardcore band into the southern/stoner band.

UPDATE: Guitarist Woody Weatherman has released the following statement:

“Mike Dean, Reed Mullin and I have been writing tunes and jamming. We’re gonna do a few shows this summer as a three-piece and probably record as well. All four of us [Mike, Reed, Woody and latter-day Corrosion Of Conformisty guitarist/vocalist Pepper Keenan] have expressed that when the time is right for everyone we’d like to do some more as a four-piece with Pepper. Who knows what the future holds, but we plan on having a good time and making good music.”
