Voivod Back Out Of Shockwave Festival As Well

Touring, Updates

The inaugural Shockwave Festival had the potential to stand out amongst an already crowded Summer with a pretty cool lineup. A few weeks ago, though, bands like Dirge Within, Forged In Flame, Revocation and Vildhjarta suddenly dropped off the bill. And earlier that day the lineup took another major blow, with Voivod now no longer attached to the festival.

The Quebec metal legends broke the news via the following Facebook post:

“Shockwave tour is no longer as advertised, Voivod really wanted to be touring but the situation was out of the band’s control and the tour producers could not live up to the promises.”

In case you’re keeping track, that leaves Fear Factory, Cattle Decapitation, Misery Index, Havok, Last Chance To Reason and The Browning on the lineup. While that is still a solid lineup, it’s still a shame that this tour is losing so many of its acts. Plus, some could argue that Voivod was a major attraction for the tour. It’s currently unclear whether more bands will be added to the bill, but that seems unlikely to happen given that the tour kicks off on Friday, July 6 at Studio Seven in Seattle, WA.
